As many visitors to my blog may not know what the SCA is, I figured I’d do a post kind of illuminating what it is that I do, and why it’s talked about on this blog.
The Society for Creative Anachronism (or the SCA for short) is an educational non-profit dedicated to the research and re-creation of the life, arts, and combat of pre-1600s life. Our Knowne World consists of 20 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members across the globe. We have feasts, royal courts, balls, classes, workshops, symposiums, and much much more.
One of the things that was done today was a highlights reel of the biggest SCA war: Pennsic War, done by ABC News. Pennsic War is massive event, as it’s a war where about 10,000 SCAdians, live, create, fighte, and learn in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania for two weeks. (there are certainly other wars, including one in my own back yard: Lilies War.)
h/t to Musings of a Medieval Mind for catching all of ABC’s coverage at Pennsic today.
