Preparing for visiting the East Kingdom . . .

. . . for Birka!

Which, of course, gives me fodder for persona development.

For those who don’t know, Birka is the East Kingdom’s biggest shopping event.  And after having been invited for several years, I found myself having a spare bit of change and was able to go.

But back to the persona fodder.  In my period, women didn’t travel a whole lot – many women only traveled to church and then back home.  A very rare occurrence may have been pilgrimage, but that’s a very rare occurrence.  Therefore, a large trip like this (Calontir to the East Kingdom is about 1500 miles) would have taken upwards of months to travel.  (It’s also a bit mindblowing when you realise that I’m making this trip in a matter of hours.  Man, how times have changed.)

Look for me at Heart of Oak Crafts‘ booth!  I’ll have paternosters for sale!  It will be wonderful to meet you!
